I’ve been there.
I know the multitude of feelings that I experienced when I first heard the diagnosis of Autism for my son. Shock, fear, guilt, despair, anxiety, feelings of inadequacy - I felt them all. However, over the years, through trial, error and educating myself, those feelings have changed. Despair has changed to hope, fear and inadequacy to confidence, and anxiety to calm. I also now possess a real passion for celebrating the uniqueness of children on the Spectrum and a deep commitment to supporting parents and caregivers.
I feel strongly that parents of children with these unique challenges and abilities, be supported and feel confident in their abilities to help their own child. From my own experience as a mother, and especially as an educator of 31 years, I've seen children on the Spectrum and their caregivers suffer from a lack of knowledge and support - and I can help! My sincerest wish is that parents know that they aren't alone. I will be there to help you navigate the wonders and challenges of parenting neurodiverse children.
Your resourcefulness is key!
I firmly believe that parents have the tools necessary to help their child and I want to be there, right alongside them, to help celebrate successes, mitigate difficulties and be that shoulder when things get overwhelming at times. With my knowledge and experience, I can help parents fill in the gaps, so that their children can live their best life and reach their own unique potential.
I am currently creating a community where parents can benefit from the lessons I've learned on my own journey in a non-judgmental, supportive way. A community where we celebrate our children in all of their uniqueness as they navigate their world, a community where we build on our collective experiences so that the focus isn't on how our children can fit into the world, but how they can be happy and successful in their own world and reach their fullest potential!
